Scholar Athlete

About the Event

Pass It Along is set to hold the 35th Annual Pass It Along Scholar Athlete Banquet on March 5, 2020 at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, located in Sparta, New Jersey. Doors will open at 5:45, a brief Cocktail "Half-Hour" will begin at 6:00, and the official program will begin at 6:30. The Scholar Athletes were nominated by the school principals and athletic directors of twelve local school districts, based on their hard-work, altruism, and ambition both in the classroom and on-the-field.

The program originated with United Way of Northern New Jersey, bringing local communities together to celebrate the academic, athletic and community service accomplishments of local high school students. The program was handed down to Pass It Along in 2014. The event is made possible by this year’s presenting sponsor, The Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, located in Sparta, New Jersey.

In an effort to connect Pass It Along’s mission with our nominees, staff members will work with the nominees over the course of four to five meetings to plan, create and deliver a service project. Pass It Along's mission is to build confident, resilient, compassionate teenagers through self-discovery, volunteer and leadership opportunities. In the past, nominees have created a field day for local, low-income elementary school students, as well as created an activity night for participants in the NORWESCAP Pathways2Prosperity program!

Members of their family, friends, sponsors, school representatives and the local community will be invited to attend. The students will receive a scholarship in conjunction with their recognition. Local businesses, schools, family and friends can showcase their support of these young rising stars and the Sussex County community by signing on as a sponsor, purchasing ad space, and/or attending the banquet.
