Scholar Athlete Events

Unified Basketball Game

The Unified Basketball Game will be held on March 12th at 5:30pm at Sparta High School in Sparta, NJ. Tickets will be available at the door.

This is an inclusive event that brings together athletes with and without developmental disabilities to compete on the same team. These games promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusion through the shared experience of basketball.

In this case, our Scholar Athletes—student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically—are leading the initiative, demonstrating their commitment to using sports as a vehicle for social change. They team up with individuals of all abilities, fostering friendships, leadership, and a sense of community both on and off the court.

These games emphasize fun, teamwork, and participation over competition, creating an environment where every player gets the opportunity to contribute. Through this event, our scholar-athletes set an example of empathy and inclusion, making sports accessible and meaningful for everyone involved.

Banquet

The Scholar Athlete Banquet will take place on March 19th at 6 PM at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, celebrating 13 outstanding Scholar Athletes for their dedication to academics, athletics, and community service. Each nominee submits a comprehensive portfolio showcasing their autobiography, academic achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, community service hours, and college board scores. As part of their commitment to giving back, these students also organize and host the Unity Basketball Game, a collaborative event leading up to the banquet.

This special evening will recognize their hard work and achievements.
